De 1985 à 1989, à la demande de son comité d’entreprise, je photographie l’usine Alsthom à Saint Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), je peux circuler librement dans les ateliers et les bureaux.
Un livre sur l’histoire de l’usine est réalisé, avec les textes écrits par les ouvriers et les cadres : Mémoire d’usine.
Aujourd’hui, l’usine qui fabriquait des transformateurs pour les centrales électriques est détruite et a laissé la place au siège de la société devenue Alstom et les transformateurs sont construits en Chine.
Souvenir of a factory
From 1985 to 1989, I was commissioned by Alstom’s work council to take photos of their factory in Saint Ouen (in Seine-Saint-Denis). I was allowed to move around freely in the offices and on the factory floor.
A book about the history of the factory was made, with the texts written by the workers and the technicians themselves. It was called Souvenir of a factory.
Today, the factory, which manufactured transformers for power stations is now destroyed and was replaced by what is now Alstom’s headquarters. The transformers are now made in China.
